Welcome to the Lincoln Laboratory Radar Introduction for Student Engineers (LLRISE) student application portal.  The LLRISE program is a residential summer workshop teaching students how to build small radar systems. This summer STEM program is a FREE two-week project-based enrichment program for outstanding students currently in their junior year in high school.  Students in the LLRISE program gain in-depth experience building small radar systems. Participants will utilize a Doppler and range radar by using creative problem-solving strategies. This hands-on program allows students to receive instruction from highly talented scientists and engineers.  LLRISE will begin on July 13, 2025 and end on July 26, 2025.  

There are several parts to the application, so please read each section carefully.

The student application includes:

1.  Student Information. Please complete this part in full.

2. Essay uploads (3 uploads)

3. Optional essay upload

4. Upload of transcript(s)

5. Upload of test score report (optional, only upload report if you indicated scores in the application)

6. Teacher recommendation requests (Math and Science recommendations needed); Hard deadline: Friday, March 19, 2025.  

Your school’s firewall may block the recommendation request from reaching your teacher.  To ensure your recommendation is received, please check with your teacher.  If your recommenders do not receive the email with the recommendation form, be sure you listed the correct email, and/or have them check their junk/spam folder.   Please have them reach out to us at LLRISE@LL.mit.edu, if the request was not received.  

In order to submit your application, you MUST have all sections "Marked as Complete" prior to submitting.
